We follow the advice of ERIC – the children’s bowel and bladder charity when it comes to potty training – or “potty learning” as they prefer to call it. Here is a link to their website. The general advice is its never to early to introduce a potty and start teaching your child what it’s for.

Potty or Toilet Training seat?

It often depends on the age of the child and how physically strong they are? A potty encourages independent toileting as a parent doesn’t need to assist them too much when using it. Also there is the added bonus that a potty can go with the child to catch the wee quickly in the very early stages. Children will sometimes graduate to using a toilet training seat after the potty when they have made an established connection from bladder to brain and can pop the toilet trainer onto the toilet seat and use a step to get on and off the toilet by themselves.
